The Honda Dio is a commuter scooter that was manufactured by the HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India) in the year 1988. The scooter was first introduced in the Indian market in the year 2001. Its plant is located in Narsapura, Karnataka. The Honda Dio became one of the best selling scooters in India and achieved a milestone for over 30 lakh sales. How is the design of Honda Dio?

The Honda Dio is a commuter scooter that is sporty and fun. This is why it is one of the most loved scooters among youngsters in India. Its looks make it stand out. The BS6 upgrade manages to keep up its sharp and aggressive sportiness. The new LED headlight and DRLs setup give it a nice sleek look in the front. The headlights are quite bright and add to the edgy look of the overall design. The Deluxe variant has an LED headlamp and the standard variant has a halogen bulb. It has the best looks in the 110 cc segment. The graphics of Dio is very well designed. There is also a Dio badge at the side of the scooter. All You Need to Know About the Dio

In 2001, the scooter was originally built as a 2-stroke model in Japan. The Dio scooter was later assembled in China by the Sundiro Honda Motorcycle Co. Ltd.
The Honda Lead is a rebadged version of Honda Dio that is available in the European automobile market.
An upgraded version of Honda Dio was launched at Auto Expo in India in 2012. The all-new Dio has an engine displacement of 110 cc similar to that of Honda Activa and Aviator. It has also received a new headlight and a new look.
In 2013, the scooter received improvements in combined brakes and fuel efficiency.
In 2017, the scooter was revamped with Bharat Standard IV Emission Compliance Rules. It also featured a new speedometer design along with an LED headlight.

In March 2020, the Honda Dio became the second-highest sold scooter in India.
In May 2020, the Dio received a nominal price hike of Rs. 552. There were also certain changes incorporated in the scooter such as the top variant got gold-colored wheels.
The price of the Honda Dio BS6 version received a second price hike of Rs 955 in August 2020. Honda started offering the scooter in 7 exciting colors this time.
The Dio received its first price hike of Rs 307 in 2021 with no cosmetic or mechanical changes.
In May 2021, Honda announced a unique discount on Dio. Buyers can avail up to Rs. 3,500 or 5% cashback guarantee on Dio BS6. The offer is valid from 1st May 2021 to 30th June 2021. However, this offer can only be availed by SBI credit cardholders and on EMI transactions.
The Honda Dio has also been launched in the Philippines market in the year 2021.
The HMSI also achieved another milestone by selling 58,168 units in 2021 (May).

Due to the impact of the second wave of Covid-19, many Honda plants had temporarily shut in India. The plants resumed their productions by the last week of May 2021 in Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Gujarat.

The lockdown imposed in several cities made Honda shut down many dealerships from April. By the end of May, various cities got relaxations and the showrooms were opened as per the Covid-19 regulations states by the local authorities.
